Well this is the last podcast and blog for this series. I'm kind of sad its coming to an end so soon! This week episode highlighted a new church here in Lubbock called Expereince life. Because of scheduling conflicts, I wasn't able to get a video interview like your used to seeing but I have gotten to attend there several times and give you an overview in the podcast. This episode is a bit shorter than I usually have due to no video but the photos are excellent and should give you a feel for the environment. I had no real editing problems and feel pretty comfortable with the whole editing process now...I guess I should, after six! Overall, I am pleased with the finished product and the series as a whole! I hope you enjoy!

Fifth podcast - Bacon Heights Baptist Church
Well this week was Bacon Heights University Ministry. Awesome name for a church, makes me think of the sugar-glazed bacon from Gardski's! Enough about food, this week was a little different in the matter of editing and my time frame. Instead of their service being in the morning, it's Sunday nights at 8pm. Pretty cool outside the box thinking there! I also appreciate their deeds on campus, you'll hear about those in the podcast. Since it usually takes be about 6 hrs to crank one of these out, I was really crunched for time once I got home Sunday night at 9:30! Everything went well and I got it done in a decent amount of time. It was fun though, doing something different for a change. The band let me have a CD of theirs so the song you hear during the stills is from them. I tried to stick to the same format as last time with the video intro zoom-in and outro zoom-out. I thought our interview went well and Jake is a great guy! Really had a good time getting to hang out with him for a couple of hours. Overall, I am pleased with the product.

Fourth podcast - Southcrest Baptist Church
Ok, so this week in the series was Southcrest University Ministry. This was pretty cool, I enjoyed getting to know a few of the guys over there and not to mention my two roommates go there. I went with just a single-camera format as Keith and I sat in his office to talk. I worked extensively in imovie and was proud of the extracted audio effect to blend video into stills while the audio still plays. I have a lot more footage of both preaching and the band but I could only have 10 min for the project. Since I shot it with the HDV camera, uploading the files to my machine took like 3 hours after formating to widescreen and letterboxing. I didn't get to put in as many stills as I usually do with projects but things worked out well. Audio worked better than last week with only a couple of skips. All in all, I'm happy with the product and believe it to be quality.

Third podcast - Indiana Ave. Baptist Church
alright well this week in my series was the University Ministry of Indiana Ave. Baptist Church. I wanted to produce an especially quality product for them because I go to Indiana Ave. This week I did a full-out video podcast with interview footage. I had several problems with editing and spent the majority of my Sunday editing. I tried the two-camera approach with a shot-reverse-shot. I put some pics at the beginning to let viewers know what the church looks like from the outside and an intro and directly into our interview. Be sure and stay tuned after the interview for some great photos of the service.
You might notice how when I talk during the interview, the audio is only on the left side. We only got one shot at this and I guess the audio only recorded on the left side. Also, due to camera problems, we had to use two very different cameras and the quality of the two shots came out different from each other. Like I said, this was done in only one take with one shot at it so I did what I could. I think it came out alright all things considered. I know there are several things I'd edit better, but overall, I'm happy with it

Second Podcast - First Baptist Church
Well this week I tried a video podcast. It took a little longer than last week and was a lot more confusing. I liked getting to know imovie. I had a great interview with Bruce, the University minister there at First Baptist. I had slight problems with pixelation...Garageband kept compressing my movie file when exporting or sharing to itunes. I have tried everything but can't figure it out.

first podcast
So I did my first podcast and it was a new experience. I did enjoy it and once I had my finished product, I was satisfied to know I could create something like this. For my podcast, I am doing a series on Baptist churches, particularly their University Ministries for Lubbock college students. In each podcast, I will go in depth about one of six, large, University Ministries here in Lubbock. I will interview the university minister and probably a few regular attendees. Also, with my video podcasts, I will capture the worship experience and style. I decided on this topic because I know for me, I wish there was something like this for me to inform me of the baptist churches and what they have going on. In doing this podcast, I did get to experience the editing part of producing a podcast. I had several "um's" which I had to edit out for smoothness. Each one of those took a while. I also experienced a clicking sound for the first 20 seconds. I might experience some challenges in recording my interviewees when conducting these interviews. I probably wont be able to get down to the podcast suite, so I plan to record the interview in the "field" on my MacBook. Overall, this was a pretty cool experience, I even went on to make a few other podcasts!
